Have a blast in Cape Town
You’ll never be stuck for things to do with kids in Cape Town, be it catching a cable car up Table Mountain or heading to Boulders Beach for penguin spotting. Don’t miss a visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium - right next to the V&A Waterfront offering an array of shops, restaurants and the giant Cape Town Wheel, offering a bird's eye view of Robben Island. If you head a little further afield, you can enjoy a day in the winelands. Many estates boast world-class menus, delicious tastings and have sprawling lawns and play areas with fun activities for kids.
There’s lots to do in Durban
Prefer to wade in warmer waters? Durban is where it’s at. The “sunny city’s” Golden Mile features some of South Africa’s most popular beaches as well as lifeguard-manned paddling pools and slides to delight the kids. You’ll find even bigger slides at the Wet n Wild water park, a part of uShaka Marine World where you can catch a dolphin show or let the kids explore the largest jungle gym in Africa. Durban is also just 38km away from PheZulu Safari Park if you’d like to set off on a guided game drive, visit the reptile park or watch an action-packed Zulu dancing show.
Enjoy a break in Johannesburg
The city of Gold offers a wide variety of attractions for families with kids of all ages. From rollercoaster-riding in Gold Reef City, a gold mining-themed fun park, to getting up close and person with over 320 different animal species at the Johannesburg Zoo. Creative kids can whip up a masterpiece at Artjamming in Melrose Arch or Colour Café in Dunkeld, while those seeking adventure can embark on a treetop aerial obstacle course at Acrobranch’s Melrose location that’s suitable for kids as young as three.
