June 2019 – Italian soccer team, A.S VELASCA will be making their way to South Africa to play an international friendly game with local soccer team, Soweto Stars F.C.
Italian based football club A.S. Velasca is a long-term project founded by Wolfgang Natlacen and four art and football enthusiasts. Founded in 2015, in Milan Italy A.S. Velasca merges the competitive game of football with the beauty of art, ‘part football club, part work of art’ is the club’s slogan.
Soweto Stars F.C. was founded in 2009 by two ambitious young brothers Zola and Zuko Manqina. One year ago, Zola Manqina sent a message in a bottle to the A.S. Velasca reading: “We should have a game one day, it would be epic.” Here we are one year later, eagerly anticipating the international team’s arrival.
A.S. Velasca will be arriving in the country on 21 June 2019 and will be playing the friendly game in Soweto at the Presbyterian church on 4058 Masobela street on the 22 of June 2019 from 14:00.
Le coq sportif are the kit sponsor for the Soweto team. MiWayLife and NeoLife are additional sponsors who made the event possible.
