The use of the MiWayLife website is subject to certain terms and conditions. Visiting and using the MiWayLife website or any part thereof implies that you are aware of our terms and conditions and agree to them.

All information on our website/s is intended as general information about MiWayLife, our products and services. The information provided on the website/s should not be treated as professional or investment advice in any way and was correct at the date of publishing. As this is our business we may choose to change any content on the site at any time without letting anyone know.

Please note that should you choose to use this website you do so entirely at your own risk. Although we take the law seriously and ascribe to the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, we can’t and won’t accept any liability when you choose to use our website.

Here are some things we would like you to know

1. All information is viewed, downloaded or printed for personal use only.

2. MiWay own the copyright and intellectual property rights to all content on our website/s including logos, other graphics and multimedia elements. If you would like to use any information from our website, please credit us clearly.

3. MiWayLife values your personal information (as defined by the Protection of Personal Information Act) and promises to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act as well as the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, insofar as it relates to personal information. We will never use your personal information for any purpose other than the reason you gave it to us. We might have to share the information with our business partners to enable us to provide you with the product or service you have enquired about or you might have chosen to take from us but these partners may never sell your details or re-use them.

4. Any email address, name, telephone number or fax number from the MiWayLife website IS NOT to be used for electronic marketing or database building purposes. The fact that we display this information does not imply that we consent to the use of this information for database building purposes.

5. Never use any of our trademarks without our written consent. This includes linking to our website in any way. If you do this without our ‘okay’ (written, of course) we are entitled to take legal action and any legal fees and/or associated costs will be for your account.

6. Linking to and from our site is really serious to us as we value our reputation hugely. But, if you believe you have a valid case, send us an email to info@life.miway.co.za and depending on our relationship and business strategy, we may agree or not.

7. When using our online tool always keep your login details safe and confidential. This ensures that nobody can access your information without the necessary authorisation to do so.

8. MiWayLife makes use of display advertising on the internet and makes use of Google Analytics to evaluate and enhance the product and services offered on our website. Information is gathered using a "cookie" which is a computer file transferred automatically from our website to your computer via your browser during an online session. The cookie enables MiWayLife to gather general information on the use and frequency of the visitor traffic. MiWayLife and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to inform, optimise and serve adverts based on a user’s past visits to the MiWayLife website. There are various ways to block cookies or to opt out by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

9. We are a truly South African company and abide by the laws of the land. Therefore our website, its content and our business shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

We also can’t promise or guarantee

1. That our website will be available and functional 100% of the time.

2. That all downloads from our website will always be free of viruses and will not damage your computer or data on it.

3. The nature, content and availability of the third-party links to external websites. We also cannot control or guarantee the accuracy or quality of the information, material and graphics from these websites. The inclusion of any such links does not necessarily imply a recommendation or endorsement of the views expressed within them. If you come across any external links that don't work, we would be grateful if you could report them to webmaster@miway.co.za.

4. The security of any data you supply us with online, for practical business reasons and because the law might require it, we need to store some of your information in our databases. Although we have built-in safeguards to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of that information, this is entirely at your own risk.

Some notes on what we allow on our comment forums

All comments on MiWayLife’s website appear as they are loaded by you, the public. It is our policy to post ALL comments unless they do not comply with our guidelines below:

  • MiWayLife welcomes all comments – both negative and positive – from anyone, regardless of whether you are a client or not.
  • The MiWayLife comments page is intended for open, transparent conversations in which people discuss and share ideas, notify MiWayLife of any issues, compliment us and of course ask questions.
  • We are committed to maintaining a non-toxic atmosphere. Therefore we do not allow profanity, hate speech, nor do we allow speech that advocates or supports hatred, unlawful activities or violence. Likewise, threats of violence or threats to anyone or any group’s personal safety are not acceptable. We also do not allow false claims or misleading implications that any individual or group perpetuates hate or violence.
  • In order to preserve a functional and civil conversation, we do not allow trolls or trollish behaviour - in other words, speech that is solely intended to provoke other users, to cause disorder or confusion, or to inhibit regular, on-topic conversation, or stalking.

Our Products and Services

  • MiWayLife offers Long-term insurance products.
  • MiWayLife is an authorised financial services provider (FSP 45741) and a division of Sanlam Life Insurance Ltd. All MiWayLife products are underwritten by Sanlam Life Insurance Ltd.
  • All telephonic client interaction is recorded for our mutual protection and copies are available on request.
  • MiWayLife products are only available to permanent residents and citizens of South Africa. All claims will be assessed, verified and paid in South Africa, to a South African bank account and in South African Rands.
  • Should it be found that there’s material misrepresentation, fraudulent activity and/or actions intentionally aimed at misleading MiWayLife, the policy will be cancelled and claiming will not be permitted. Premiums paid in terms of the policy will also be forfeited. MiWayLife reserves the right to take further legal action as appropriate.
  • Should we reject a claim and the claimant wishes to challenge the decision via legal proceedings, the legal proceedings must be instituted within 6 months after the date on which notice of rejection was received. Failure to institute legal proceedings within the time period will result in a loss of all right to benefits which the claimant may have had against us.
  • All information supplied to us by the policyholder, on behalf of the policyholder or any person, covered under this policy must be true and complete. Incorrect information may negatively impact the cover or future claims. It remains the policyholder’s responsibility to make sure that the information provided is correct. The information supplied will be validated at claims stage. We require certain information in order to determine the acceptability of the risk, the premium and the conditions of cover.
  • Where the cover amount of an accelerated benefit exceeds the reduced cover amount of the death benefit (due to one or more accelerated benefit pay out/s), we will reduce the cover amount of the accelerated benefit to an amount equal to the reduced cover amount of the primary benefit (death). As follows, we will reduce the monthly premium to reflect any reduction in the cover amount.
  • The policy ends on payment of the full cover amount for the main life or should you decide to cancel the policy.
  • If the policy does not meet your expectations or if there are any changes to the information supplied, please inform us immediately by telephone or in writing to ensure that your cover remains valid and future claims are not affected.
  • The confidentiality of your personal information is of utmost importance to us. We therefore only disclose, process and share information in the normal course of business; such as claims, relevant underwriting information and medical history with relevant parties, including a central life insurance register.
  • Due to the nature of an insurance agreement we may require access to your medical and other information during the claims process. Such information will be requested from third parties who hold such information.
  • As a division of Sanlam Life Insurance Ltd. MiWayLife holds appropriate professional indemnity cover.
  • Some MiWayLife call centre consultants may be operating under supervision.
  • The law of South Africa will apply to MiWayLife’s products, services and contracts.

Using the MiFitLife portal

  • Using the MiFitLife portal (“the site”) is voluntary and choosing not to use the portal will have no impact on your cover, premium or any other benefits or condition of your MiFitLife policy.
  • Nothing contained on the site should be interpreted as medical advice.
  • Neither MiWayLife, nor its representatives/ambassadors and/or employees, have the requisite medical experience or expertise to diagnose or treat medical conditions.
  • The advice and recommendation found on the site is general and does not consider individuals medical, physical or mental conditions.
  • It must be understood that engaging in/following a physical activity, exercise routine or diet could result in injury and/or death.
  • Any and all videos, text, images or other content in whatever form found on the site is not professional medical advice. Should you experience any health related complications, physical injury or you are uncertain about the effects a diet or training program may have on you, contact a doctor or other medical professional.
  • We advise that you consult your doctor before you undertake to follow any health and fitness recommendations found on the site.
  • By accepting these terms and conditions and agreeing to use the site you expressly agree to release MiWayLife from any and all liability related to your physical well-being, training activity, nutritional and health state, and promise not to action legal proceedings of any sort for any claim/s, injuries, damages or losses associated with the use of the site. You also agree that in no event shall MiWayLife be liable to you or any third party for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damages.

MiFitLife referral system/program

Here are the basic rules:

  • Participation in the referral system/program is voluntary.
  • Choosing to not participate in the referral system/program will not affect your cover, premium or any other benefits or condition of your MiFitLife policy.
  • You must be the holder of MiFitLife policy with up to date premiums and in good standing to participate in the referral system/program.
  • You need to have signed up and logged in with your unique username and password to the MiFitLife portal and accepted the terms and conditions of the site and program.
  • You cannot refer yourself.
  • For every 5 referrals that take up the MiFitLife policy you will be eligible for 1 referral reward (take up means paying a premium and commencing with the MiFitLife cover)
  • If a referee does not take up the MiFitLife policy within 3 months from the referral date, no referral reward is due to the referrer.

More about the referral reward:

  • Issuing of a referral reward will be at the sole discretion of MiWayLife.
  • MiWayLife will endeavor to inform referrers of the reward type in advance and have the right to change such reward without prior notification.
  • A reward will be delivered within four weeks after the successful collection and commencement of a referred client’s MiFitLife policy.
